Physios who actually race.

Five physiotherapists running the Richmond studio across Home Run, Evolutio and Ciclo. Each one is a runner, cyclist, lifter or trail athlete in their own right. You're getting clinical experience and someone who has stood on the same start line you're trying to get back to.

Bayden Campbell

Senior Physiotherapist & Co-Director

Bayden has been on the Home Run Physio and Evolutio team since 2016, when we conscripted him from Tasmania to bring his slow-burning competence and dry humour to Melbourne running culture. Nine years of clinical experience later, he's now Co-Clinic Director and the team's first call for complex running injuries that have already had two physios poke at them.

If your running injury falls into the "I've tried three things and nothing's worked" bucket, you want Bayden. He sits in the rare overlap between deep biomechanics knowledge, hands-on manual therapy, and a willingness to actually read your training log. He's a certified Anatomy in Motion practitioner — not many physios in Melbourne are — which gives him a different lens on chronic foot pain, persistent gait issues, and that one Achilles that just won't settle.

He's also a runner who races. So when you're explaining why you absolutely have to be at the start line of the Melbourne Marathon in twelve weeks, he gets it, and won't tell you to "just rest." He'll find a way.

Phill Danzi

Senior Physiotherapist & Co-Director

Phill is Co-Clinic Director and the team's resident lifting + ACL specialist. Eight-plus years of clinical experience, a Master's from the University of Sydney and a Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology — Phill comes to running injuries with a strength-and-conditioning lens that most physios don't have.

His current sideline gig: Rehab Lead for the Western Bulldogs AFLW. That kind of high-stakes environment shows up in clinic — Phill is particularly strong with runners coming back from significant injury (ACL reconstructions, repeat hamstring tears, calf strains in the masters age group), and with strength-based runners who want to know how to actually programme heavy lifting around their training without breaking down.

Olympic lifting and CrossFit injuries fall into his caseload too — he's one of the more experienced practitioners in Melbourne for these niches. So if you're a runner who also does CrossFit (we know there are a lot of you), Phill is your one-stop shop.

Specialisations

  • ACL rehabilitation & return-to-running
  • Post-surgical running rehab

Shirouz Elango, Sports, TMJ and Cycling Physiotherapist at Evolutio Richmond and Home Run Physio
Sports · Cycling · TMJ

Shirouz Elango

Physiotherapist & Ironman 70.3 Triathlete

Shirouz is the team's hands-on cycling, sports and TMJ specialist. Originally from Singapore, Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Curtin University, then relocated to Melbourne — "arguably the sporting capital of Australia," as he puts it — to build out a clinical practice across cycling, triathlon and team sports.

For runners, Shirouz is particularly strong in two scenarios. One: triathletes and runners who cross-train on the bike. He completes physio-led bike fits at our sister studio Ciclo Melbourne, so if your knee pain is showing up on both runs and rides, he'll work the on-bike biomechanics and the off-bike loading in the same plan. Two: runners with jaw pain or TMJ — he's a trained TMJ consultant, which is rare in sports physio.

He's also an Ironman 70.3 triathlete, which means he genuinely understands what it feels like to be told to "rest" when you have a race in eight weeks. He volunteers as physio with Old Melburnians Soccer Club, and co-founded a health tech startup focused on 3D-printed custom orthotics — so foot biomechanics is its own deep interest.

Specialisations

  • Cycling-specific physio
  • Bike fitting (via Ciclo Melbourne)
  • Triathlon injuries
  • TMJ & jaw pain
  • Foot & ankle biomechanics
  • Sports injuries (soccer, hockey, running)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Physiotherapy — Curtin University
  • Diploma of Health Science
  • TMJ Consultant (further training)
  • Dry Needling Certified
  • Ciclo Melbourne Bike Fitter
  • APA Registered Physiotherapist

Kelsi Parker

Sports & Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist

Kelsi joined us fresh from a Master of Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Kinesiology from the University of British Columbia. The Canadian half of the team and the most-likely-to-be-on-a-trail-race-start-line member of the clinic.

Kelsi's thing — beyond the standard sports and musculoskeletal caseload — is trail running. She's volunteered as physio with Arc'teryx Ambassador athletes at the Mt Buffalo 42km and 100km events, and on-field with the Sydney Convicts (Australia's first gay and inclusive rugby union club). She also volunteers with Adaptive Climbing Victoria. So if you're heading into Ultra-Trail Australia, Surf Coast Century, or any of the Tarawera/UTMB qualifiers, she gets the demands.

Clinically, Kelsi is particularly strong with lower back pain in runners, post-operative rehabilitation, and the slow-burning return-to-sport process after concussion or significant injury. She's also Stott Pilates Reformer certified, so she'll integrate Pilates-based loading into your rehab where it makes sense.

Specialisations

  • Trail & ultra running injuries
  • Lower back pain in runners
  • Post-operative rehabilitation
  • Return-to-sport programming
  • Concussion management
  • Clinical Pilates

Qualifications

  • Master of Physiotherapy — University of Sydney
  • Bachelor of Kinesiology — UBC
  • APA Sports Physiotherapy Level 1
  • Stott Pilates Reformer Certified
  • Dry Needling Certified

Alex Drew, Founder of Evolutio Sports Physio Richmond and the Home Run / Ciclo studio
Founder

Alex Drew

Founder & Physiotherapist

Alex founded the Richmond studio in 2013 — back when it was just Evolutio — after deciding that the existing model of sports physio in Melbourne was too sterile, too rushed, and too disconnected from the reality of training at any serious level. Twelve years and three brands later (Evolutio, Home Run, Ciclo), the studio runs out of a converted warehouse on Bromham Place treating everyone from first-time parkrunners to Olympic athletes.

Alex took a sabbatical in 2022 to live in Todos Santos, Mexico, grow tomatoes, study a Master of Human Rights, and work alongside Human Rights Watch and the Red Cross. He came back. The team is glad. Fourteen-plus years of clinical experience now sit on top of broader perspective.

His clinical interests sit in the complex shoulder and back injury space, plus CrossFit and powerlifting (he has CrossFit Coach and Powerlifting Coach certifications). He's previously worked with North Melbourne Football Club and many of Melbourne's top CrossFit athletes.

Currently: Alex is taking on returning patients only and select new referrals. New patient enquiries: alex@evolutio.com.au.

The team treats across three specialist clinics.

Our physios don't just work at Home Run. The same five clinicians run the entire Richmond studio — Evolutio for the wider sports caseload, and Ciclo for cyclists, triathletes and bike fits. So if your case crosses disciplines, we don't refer you out. We just walk to the next room.
